borrower-boogie-intro

Of the 20 million Americans that attend college every year, 60% use student loans to help pay for it. Signing up for your student loan was probably pretty easy. Managing your loan after the fact, however, may be somewhat more challenging. You’re not alone.

That’s where we come in. Loan Science can help you track down the specific details of your loan to create a repayment plan that works for you. There are several convenient repayment plans available and we’ll help you select the one that’s right for your unique situation.

If you are already repaying your loan but having trouble making payments, Loan Science can help take the heat off a little while keeping you in good standing.

The forms below are those that borrowers working with Loan Science find most useful. We can help you determine which are the right forms for you to use for your particular situation.

Please be aware that Loan Science may not be contacting you about all your federal student loans. However, Loan Science can provide information that will help you successfully navigate the repayment process.

Schools hire Loan Science to provide student loan counseling assistance to current and former students. The service is provided to student loan borrowers at no cost. Our counselors serve as borrower advocates. They help the borrowers understand their options and select the one that is best for them. Our counselors also introduce the borrower to their servicer and work with them on long-term solutions to successful repayment.

Loan Science obtains information directly from schools, as they have access to loan information for their students and former students through the loan servicers and the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS).

Loan Science works as an advocate to ensure that borrowers understand which options are best for them. We also work directly with borrowers and servicers to complete the repayment plan process. Let’s face it: This is a really complicated process. Our job is to counsel and help borrowers understand their options without any pressure.

Loan Science may follow up to confirm that any changes requested through the servicer have been applied properly, as well as to answer any additional questions or concerns.

NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System) maintains a website that provides access to loan details and servicer information. They collect data from schools, guaranty agencies, servicers, the Direct Loan program, and other Department of Education programs.

Federal student loans are granted by the Federal Government through institutes of higher education and have more benefits and assistance programs than private student loans. Private student loans are granted by private institutions (such as banks and credit unions) and are based on credit worthiness. Private student loans may also have limited benefits and options during repayment.

We can help explain the options available from the Federal Government. Some of the more popular options are:

  • Income-Driven Repayment Plan (which includes loan forgiveness after being in the program for 20 to 25 years)
  • Teacher Loan Forgiveness
  • Public Service Forgiveness

When a loan defaults, a borrower may have their wages garnished, their credit rating damaged, their tax refund withheld, they can lose their professional license, or lose eligibility for federal student aid. If loans have already defaulted, there are rehabilitation programs available. The Default Resolution Group can be reached at 800-621-3115 and they will help make arrangements to get loan payments back on track.

Applications can be obtained here or by calling 800-557-7392.
